Renters Advocacy Group: Ensuring Fair Housing Practices

The Renters Advocacy Group within the Central Etobicoke Community Action Network is committed to addressing the concerns and advocating for the rights of tenants and renters in our community. 

Our primary goal is to create a supportive and fair housing environment, ensuring that everyone has access to safe, affordable, and dignified housing.

            Addressing Housing Concerns:

Provide a platform for tenants and renters to voice their concerns related to housing, including affordability, maintenance, and landlord-tenant relationships.

Advocate for policies that promote fair and equitable treatment of tenants and address common issues within the rental community.

            Community Workshops and Resources:

Organize workshops and information sessions on topics such as tenants' rights, navigating lease agreements, and understanding local housing regulations.

Develop and distribute resources to empower renters with knowledge and tools to advocate for their housing needs.

Affordability Initiatives:

Advocate for policies that promote affordable housing options within Central Etobicoke.

Collaborate with local authorities, developers, and community partners to explore solutions for increasing affordable housing stock.

            Community Surveys and Feedback:

Conduct surveys and gather feedback from tenants to understand specific concerns and experiences.

Use community input to shape advocacy efforts and address the unique challenges faced by renters in Central Etobicoke.

            Tenant Support Network:

Establish a support network for tenants facing housing challenges, providing guidance, resources, and a sense of community.

Facilitate connections between tenants to share experiences and support one another.
