Ward 2 School Council Working Group: Bridging Community and Education
Objective: The Ward 2 School Council Working Group within the Etobicoke-Centre Community Impact Network is dedicated to fostering strong connections between our community and educational institutions. Our primary goal is to create a collaborative space where schools, parents/caregivers, and the wider community work together to ensure the best possible educational experience for our children.
Establishing Partnerships:
Forge strong partnerships with local schools and their School Councils to create a network for open communication and collaboration.
Act as a liaison between the community and educational institutions to strengthen ties and mutual support.
School Council Engagement:
Engage actively with school councils to understand their goals, challenges, areas of improvement.
Attend school council meetings to provide updates on community initiatives and gather input on issues relevant to both the schools and the broader community.
Community-Caregiver Collaboration:
Facilitate collaborative projects and initiatives that involve both families and the community to enhance the educational experience of our children.
Organize joint events, workshops, and programs that promote positive interactions between caregivers, teachers, and community members.
Supporting School Initiatives:
Provide support for school-led initiatives and events, such as fundraisers, extracurricular activities, and educational programs.
Collaborate with schools to identify areas where community involvement can enhance the success of school-led projects.
Education Advocacy:
Advocate for educational policies that benefit both schools and the broader community.
